I Believe in Jesus Christ, His Only Son, Our Lord

• Christology – the subject of the personhood of Christ.
  Who Is He? 
• Jesus is eternal in nature
  • Arianism: a heresy of the early church, teaching that Christ is a created being, not eternal in nature
    • Read John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16
    • Read re. Athanasius and Council of Nicaea (AD 325)
      
• Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament (Heb. 1:1-2)
  • He fulfills the Jewish priesthood and the sacrificial system
  • He fulfills the Law (see Romans 8:3-4)
    
• Jesus is Lord (affirmation of his deity)
  • Luke 2:11; John 20:28
  • By divine action and prerogative:
    • John 11:25 “I am the resurrection and the life”
    • Mark 2:7 “Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
